This digital animation was created utilising the traditional style animation technique through the use of hand-drawn illustrations and animation software.
After sketching what the key positions would look like, I used tracing paper to hand-illustrate each frame. Using tracing paper allowed me to see each previous frame so I knew where to draw the placement of each limb, recreating the onion-skin effect found on animation software. I decided to hand draw the frames as when it comes to digital art I find it easier to sketch out the design on paper first, and then trace and refine the design digitally.

I scanned each frame individually, and used the software Clip Studio Paint (graphics and animation software) and the hardware Microsoft Surface Go (graphics tablet/laptop), along with a smart pen, to digitally illustrate over the scanned sketches individually.

Finally, using the same software I assigned each digitally drawn frame to a point in the animation timeline, moved each illustration to a different height to replicate the bounce of walking, and exported it as an .mp4 file.
